Frictions on Landscapes lädt zu einer vielschichtigen Auseinandersetzung mit der Landschaft ein. Im Zentrum stehen die Spannungen („Frictions“) zwischen Mensch, Natur und Ressourcennutzung der Gegenwart. Die Ausstellung verbindet künstlerische Positionen mit wissenschaftlicher Forschung und fragt danach, wie Landschaften historisch geformt und als kultureller, politischer und ökologisch geprägter Raum genutzt werden. Dabei geht es um das Nachdenken über Verantwortung, die sich daraus für einen nachhaltigen Umgang mit unserem Lebensraum ergibt. Frictions on Landscapes bietet drei Ebenen sowie ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm. Ziel ist es, einen generationenübergreifenden Dialog anzuregen, wissenschaftliche Inhalte sinnlich erfahrbar zu machen und neue Formen transdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit zwischen Kunst, Wissenschaft und Stadtgesellschaft zu entwickeln. Das M26 versteht sich als sorgender Kulturort und öffnet im Rahmen von „Frictions on Landscapes“ einen experimentellen Laborraum, der Ausstellung, Forschung und gesellschaftlichen Austausch verbindet. Im Mittelpunkt steht nicht die fertige Präsentation, sondern ein offener Prozess, in dem Kunst, Wissenschaft und Öffentlichkeit gemeinsam Fragen zu Stadt, Natur und Zusammenleben verhandeln. Unterschiedliche Perspektiven, Methoden und Wissensformen werden bewusst in produktive Reibung gebracht, um neue Denk- und Erfahrungsräume zu schaffen.
“Frictions on Landscapes” invites visitors to engage in a multifaceted exploration of the landscape. The exhibition focuses on the tensions (“frictions”) between humans, nature, and contemporary resource use. The exhibition combines artistic perspectives with scientific research and explores how landscapes have been historically shaped and utilized as spaces defined by cultural, political, and ecological factors. It prompts reflection on the responsibility this entails for the sustainable management of our living environment. Frictions on Landscapes features three levels of exhibition as well as an extensive supporting program. The goal is to stimulate a cross-generational dialogue, make scientific content accessible through the senses, and develop new forms of transdisciplinary collaboration between art, science, and urban society. M26 sees itself as a caring cultural space and, as part of “Frictions on Landscapes,” is opening an experimental laboratory space that combines exhibition, research, and social exchange. The focus is not on the finished presentation, but on an open process in which art, science, and the public jointly negotiate questions about the city, nature, and coexistence. Different perspectives, methods, and forms of knowledge are deliberately brought into productive friction to create new spaces for thought and experience.
