Um Regensburg künftig zu sichern, werden in den kommenden Jahren bis zu 10 Mio. Euro jährlich in den Ausbau des Hochwasserschutzes investiert. Mit dem Planungswettbewerb von 2003/04 und dem „Blauen Plan“ von 2011 liegen entsprechende Konzepte vor. Das transdisziplinäre Studio Climate-X-treme Regensburg am Fachgebiet Landschaftsarchitektur| Technik der Universität Kassel widmete sich der Frage, wie aus den erheblichen Investitionen in den Schutz auch zusätzliche stadträumliche Qualitäten und ergänzende Nutzungsangebote für die Stadtgesellschaft entstehen können. Das Studienprojekt untersuchte Standorte auf den Donauinseln Oberer Wöhrd, Stadtamhof und Unterer Wöhrd im Kontext des UNESCO-Welterbes Altstadt Regensburg. Die komplexe Aufgabe der Klimaanpassung – Hochwasserschutz kombiniert mit Starkregenvorsorge – überlagerte sich hier mit den Anforderungen an eine sensible, nachhaltige freiräumliche und städtebauliche Entwicklung. Die Ausstellung mit den Ergebnissen des Studios zeigt ein breites Spektrum an Potenzialen auf.
In order to secure Regensburg’s future, up to €10 million will be invested annually in the expansion of flood protection measures over the coming years. The 2003/04 planning competition and the 2011 “Blue Plan” have produced corresponding concepts. The transdisciplinary Climate-X-treme Regensburg studio at the Department of Landscape Architecture|Technology at the University of Kassel addressed the question of how the considerable investments in protection can also create additional urban qualities and complementary uses for the urban community. The study project examined locations on the Danube islands of Oberer Wöhrd, Stadtamhof, and Unterer Wöhrd in the context of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Regensburg’s old town. The complex task of climate adaptation—flood protection combined with heavy rain prevention—was overlaid here with the requirements for sensitive, sustainable open space and urban development. The exhibition presenting the results of the studio highlights a wide range of potential.
